Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.

Jeremy Small

Everyone in the world is born with their own chance to make a name for themself, only a handfull achieve this; it's up to them how they wish to accomplish it, or if they even choose to do so... this is me, and this is my shot.

ABOUT ME: I started mixed martial arts after I decided not to wrestle in college. I love the adrenaline rush that comes with stepping inside the cage. Since I decided not to continue wrestling, I saw cage fighting as the next level for competing and fell in love with it right away. I love fighting with everything I have, and I love the competition. I would not give it up for anything. Eventually I'm going to be a full-time fighter. My dream is to have fighting as my job and be in the UFC. Also, the recognition of what I do is very rewarding. It is a wonderful feeling to have kids and people look up to you and to get compliments about what you do.

CHRISTIANITY AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME: I am a firm believer that there is a God behind this universe and that Jesus Christ is the son of God who died for our sins. Since my senior year of high school I have prayed before every sporting event that I was in... from football, wrestling, and now fighting. I pray that He grants me the strength, skill and heart to win each fight in His name. When Team GETYASOME was formed as a team, many of us had similar views and felt that it would be right to start a Christian gym. Our original gym, Hands 2 War MMA , was derived from one of my favorite verses from the Bible, Psalm 144:1: "Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight."

Our Christian roots has gained fans as far away as New York! Tim Tyrell, a disabled U.S. Veteran, found our team in March of 2009. He has provided me prayer support, as well as many other fighters and teams. He does a great job:

"Jesus, we ask You to bless the fighters who will do battle today and ask You to keep everyone safe. We also ask You to bless the judges and referees that they do their jobs fair and just and may You bless the family, friends and fans of the fighters. Amen."

Finally, you should know I'm not a one-promoter fighter that's afraid to get out of my backyard! I've fought in 14 promotions in 16 cities across 6 Midwest states. In 2008 alone, I traveled 7,700 miles... just to fight!

12 of my 32 amateur fights were championship fights! I'm not one to shy away from a challenge.

And, I did collect a few championship belts along the way. I was middleweight champion for:

A couple other miscellaneous points to note:

As an amateur, I was ranked as high as #28 in the International Sport Combat Federation's Amateur Men's Middleweight World Rankings.

March 2009: With no formal jiu-jitsu training and no tournament experience, I placed 3rd in the open no-gi division at the 9th Best of the Best Brazillian Jiu Jitsu ProAms.

June 2010: 2nd Place in the Cornhusker State Games Jiu-Jitsu Tournament - Men's Division, No Gi Adult (18 & Over), 170 to 184 pounds - four wins by submission (two arm bars, one arm triangle, one rear naked choke), two losses by decision.

It's an especially apt, single-word description for the fearless approach to life - a stubborn, uncompromising dedication to doing it your own way, regardless of the consequences.
